Industry-Oriented Skills Of Students Stressed At SOA Workshop In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The need for preparing graduates in the field of science and technology by inculcating various skills required by the industry was stressed at a day-long industrial interactive workshop in Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Around 130 participants attended the workshop on ‘Recent Developments and Challenges in Core Industries’. It focused on subjects like emerging areas of renewable energy, future challenges of work, workforce and workplace in manufacturing industries, challenges which obstruct the improvement of core industries, opportunities of smart manufacturing and application of data science, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in
industries.
The workshop was organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology.
Priya Ranjan Prasad, Managing Director, Brahmani River Pellets Limited, Kalinga Nagar; Sachikanta Kar, Head of Department, Quality and Consultancy, CTTC, Bhubaneswar; Sanat Kumar Mishra, Director and CEO, Sunstone Solar Solutions Pvt Ltd; Rajiv Sharma, General Manager, HR and Administration, Sree Metaliks and Navraj Singh, Training Head, GMR Power Plant, Dhenkanal were the resource persons who discussed career prospects of
engineering students.
Prof PK Sahoo, Dean, ITER; Prof Sujit Kumar Dash, Head, Training and Placement; Prof Renu Sharma, Additional Dean (Student Affairs) and Prof DN Thatoi, Additional Dean (Academics) also spoke at the workshop. J Nanda was the convenor.
