Ranchi: Have you heard of any person wishing to be put in jail?
It actually happened in Jharkhand’s Koderma district, where a man requested the police to be imprisoned despite not having committed any crime.
Mukesh Kumar Rajak, a resident of Manjhaladih, approached on-duty home guard Chotan Mehta at the taxi stand police picket, under the jurisdiction of Domchanch police station, and persistently demanded that he be sent to jail.
Nonplussed by this strange request, the home guard explained to Rajak that imprisonment is a legal issue and he could not be jailed without there being any charges against him.
However, Rajak was adamant. He got angry and struck the home guard multiple times across the face, injuring Mehta.
The home guard had no option but to lodge a complaint against Rajak at Domchanch police station.
Once a case was registered against Mukesh Rajak, he was formally arrested and sent to Koderma jail.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that Rajak’s actions may have stemmed from mental distress due to family disputes.
