Mumbai: It seems just the other day that Rishabh Pant smashed records in the IPL mega player auction held at Jeddah in November, fetching a price tag of a whopping Rs 27 crore.
On Sunday, the balls were set rolling for IPL 2025 as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed the dates for the world’s most popular T20 league.
The fixtures will be announced later.
The 18th edition of IPL will get underway on March 23, two weeks after the ICC Champions Trophy ends, while the final is scheduled for May 25, Shukla told newspersons after Sunday’s special general meeting of the BCCI where Devajit Saikia was elected secretary unopposed.
Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions, having thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the 2024 final.
Shukla informed that India’s Champions Trophy squad will be announced on January 18 or 19. The tournament, to be hosted by Pakistan on their soil and Dubai (only India’s matches), will start on February 19.
