Ahmedabad: Gujarat Titans opener B Sai Sudharsan has been in red-hot form in IPL 2025.
The classy left-hander from Tamil Nadu is on top of the scorers’ list, becoming the first player this season to cross the 500-run mark.
During his 23-ball 48 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, on Friday evening, Sudharshan topped a milestone by erasing the name of none other than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
The 23-year-old batter became the fastest to aggregate 1,500 runs in IPL, doing so in just 35 innings. Mumbai Indians star Tendulkar held the record in 44 innings, which was later matched by Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Now, Sudharshan has left them well behind. His consistency has been one of the talking points of IPL 2025. In 10 innings, he has failed to cross double digits just once. In the remaining 9 innings, he scored 5 half-centuries with his lowest return being 36.
Sudharshan, who was Gujarat Titans’ top scorer in IPL 2024 with 527 runs, can look forward to shattering some more records as he still has four matches left in this year’s league phase, followed by 1 or more playoff games.
Though this is a T20 tournament, Sudharshan’s batsmanship must have surely caught the Indian selectors’ attention. Having played three ODIs and a solitary T20 International, Sudharshan may be a sureshot in the Indian squad for next month’s 5-Test tour of England.
