IREL To Set Up Solar Inverters In 150 Schools Of Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: In order to ensure uninterrupted power supply, as many as 15o state government-run high schools will have solar invertera in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The district administration has signed an agreement with the Indian Rare Earths Ltd (IREL) in this regard. The agreement was signed by Ganjam district collector Dibyajyoti Parida and executive director of IREL AJ Janarthanan on Wednesday evening.

As part of the government’s school transformation programme to improve quality of education and infrastructure, total 366 high schools in the district have been transformed in two phases. Of those ‘smart schools’, 150 have been selected to have the provision of solar inverters for uninterrupted power supply.

The IREL will set up the inverters with capacity of 2 kw each with an estimated cost of Rs 1.05 crore under the ‘Mo School’ programme of the government.

Chief development officer (CDO)-cum-executive officer of Ganjam zilla parishad V Keerthi Vasan, commissioner of Berhampur Municipal Corporation J Sonal, officials of district education department and IREL were present at the signing of the agreement.
