Mumbai: Farah Khan has sparked fresh speculation about a possible sequel to her 2004 blockbuster ‘Main Hoon Na’ after actor Arjun Kapoor expressed his desire to see the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer return with a second part.
Reacting to his request, Farah shared a cryptic response, leaving fans wondering if ‘Main Hoon Na 2’ could eventually become a reality.
Arjun Kapoor took to Instagram on Thursday to share a video of himself watching ‘Main Hoon Na’ in his hotel room and penned a note alongside it.
“The joy of watching your all time fav film randomly on TV as you check in into a hotel in this digital era… We need a sequel asap!!!” he wrote, tagging Farah in his story.
Farah replied, “Hahaha… agar kisi cheez ko dil se maango… @arjunkapoor lov u (sic).”
Farah’s response appeared to reference Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic dialogue from Om Shanti Om, her second directorial venture after ‘Main Hoon Na’.
Speculation about Main Hoon Na 2 had earlier surfaced after Farah revealed that her next directorial would feature Shah Rukh.
However, the filmmaker subsequently dismissed the rumours and clarified that the upcoming project is not a sequel to the 2004 action-comedy.
“Don’t believe in all these rumours,” Farah was quoted as saying by TOI.
Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have previously collaborated on three films — ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Happy New Year’.
The filmmaker had also shared an update on her return to direction in January, when she appeared at actor Nakuul Mehta’s Mumbai home for a vlog.
Farah said, “Abhi banaungi main! Abhi bachche chaley jayenge na college fir banaungi! There is a whole petition on the internet called wapas aao Farah Khan (I will make a film soon! My kids are going to college so I will make it after that. There is a whole petition for me to return to direction)! So I think it is time; I think at the end of this year I will start.”
Released in 2004, ‘Main Hoon Na’ marked Farah Khan’s directorial debut and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Suniel Shetty, Amrita Rao and Zayed Khan.
The film follows Major Ram, who goes undercover as a college student during a military mission while trying to connect with his half-brother Lakshman.
Blending action, romance and family drama, the film was a commercial success and remains a popular Hindi film from the 2000s.
