Kolkata: Odisha FC’s season ended on a heartbreaking note here on Sunday night.

They conceded a goal in stoppage time of the ISL semifinal’s second leg to go down 2-3 on aggregate against Mohun Bagan Supergiant.

Having won the home leg 2-1 at fortress Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar five days ago, Odisha FC held on to their lead for 21 minutes before Mohun Bagan drew level.

An error by goalkeeper Amrinder Singh, who otherwise had a good game, gave former Australian national team striker Jason Cummings the chance to make it 2-2, much to the delight of 62,000 fans at Salt Lake Stadium.

Despite playing away from home, Odisha FC fought tooth and nail.

The Juggernauts managed to create openings, with Isak and Ahmed Jahouh coming agosingly close. Mohun Bagan also threatened the Odisha goal, but neither team could nail the decisive goal till 90 minutes.

In the third of seven added minutes, Sahal Abdul Samad managed to somehow get the ball past Amrinder and over the line following a scramble in front of goal. Odisha players protested against the referee and his assistant demanding a hand ball, but the officials stuck to their decision.

Odisha kept trying but ultimately ran out of time.
