The company has already been making iPhone 7 and 6s in Bengaluru. Recently, it also started assembling the iPhone X and iPhone XR in Foxconn’s Chennai plant.
These iPhones come with an ‘Assembled in India’ branding on the box.
Apple CEO Tim Cook maintains that India is an important market for the brand despite a fall in sales. The company is looking to set up its own retail stores in India after the change in FDA rules.
