Puri: Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri will remain out of bounds for devotees for five hours on Monday.
According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, there will be a restriction on general darshan of the sibling deities between 5 pm and 10 pm for the ‘Paita Lagi Niti’, after completion of the second Bhog Mandap offering.
The ritual involves covering the bodies of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra with a special silk cloth called ‘Basunga Patta’. The cloth is then rubbed with sandalwood paste. Daitapati servitors perform this secret ritual.
The temple administration further informed that Ratna Bhandar repair work will remain suspended for 4 days till April 24.
