Puri: Repair work of the Natamandap (Dancing Hall) of the Jagannath Temple in the pilgrim town of Puri will begin on February 23.
The repair work, to be carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), will continue till March 19 at the 12th century shrine. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Chhatisa Nijog held on Tuesday, sources said.
It was decided that the conservation work of the Natamandap will be carried out from February 23 to March 19. The ASI will do the repair work daily from 1 pm to 7 pm. To streamline the temple rituals, the Lion’s Gate will be opened at 2 am and the Ratra Pahuda will be performed at 11pm.
Sharing details of the conservation work at the shrine, Puri Collector Samarth Verma said that the ASI will carry out repair work between 1 pm and 7 pm every day during the period. The work will be completed in 15 to 20 days.
Regarding the crack developed on the northern side of the Ratna Bhandar, ASI superintendent D B Gadanayak said that the crack is of minor nature and it will be repaired.
