Chennai: Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan has sparked a wave of excitement among fans even before its release. From a giant cutout unveiled in Singapore to long queues of fans waiting to secure tickets in Chennai, the film’s buzz appears to have transcended borders.
The scale of the anticipation was evident outside Chennai’s Rohini Theatre, where scores of Vijay fans gathered in the early hours despite the ticket counter remaining closed.
Many had turned up in the hope of securing offline tickets for the film’s first-day, first-show screenings.
“Online tickets didn’t open for the first day first show. It opened only for the 12 pm shows,” a fan was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Another added, “I’ve been waiting since 3 am and have been trying for the last couple of days.”
The atmosphere outside the theatre turned festive as fans chanted Vijay’s name, celebrated enthusiastically and discussed the highly anticipated film. The video also captured a Vijay lookalike sporting the actor’s signature style, further adding to the excitement.
Expressing his excitement, a fan said, “Earlier it used to be a Thalapathy film and now it’s a CM film.”
However, the celebrations have extended well beyond India.
A Singapore-based movie update page on X highlighted a massive cutout erected for Vijay, calling it the largest-ever cutout for one of his films in the country.

Vijay’s massive fan following overseas was further highlighted when a Singapore-based company announced special leave for its employees on the release day of Jana Nayagan.
According to a circular shared by the Singapore Thalapathy Vijay Fans Club, employees were granted a half-day holiday from 8 AM to 12 PM on July 23, enabling them to watch the film during its opening shows.
