Two Arrested In Jasobant Parida Murder Case
Bhubaneswar: Two persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in BJD leader Jasobant Parida murder case, informed Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Thursday.
The duo from Odisha was arrested from Northeast India, Sharma said.
On March 27, a group of locals of Kamakhyanagar town had staged a road blockade at three places on NH-53 demanding immediate arrest of the accused involved in the murder case.
Parida, the youth president of Dhenkanal district was shot dead by four unidentified miscreants on March 26 near Gandhi temple here. The incident took place when Parida was on the way from Dhenkanal in his Indigo car to oversee work at his under-construction house at Anantapur in Kamakhyanagar, where he also owns a medicine store.
Parida was reportedly followed by the miscreants in a Bolero vehicle from Gandhi Mandir. They opened fire and hurled seven to eight country bombs at his car. Terrified, Parida got down from his car and tried to escape from the attack. However, one of the bullets hit Parida on the head and he fell down on the road, following which the miscreants fled the area.
Although some locals rushed the BJD leader to Kamakhyanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, the doctors there declared him as broght dead. Hoping that he was still alive, the locals shifted him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. However, they returned to Kamakhyanagar as the doctors who were accompanying Parida insisted that he was already dead.
