Javelin History: Odisha’s Kishore Jena joins Neeraj, Manu In World Athletics Final

Bhubaneswar: Odisha athlete Kishore Kumar Jena qualified for the Javelin final at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Kishore thus joined countrymen Neeraj Chopra and DP Manu in the 12-man final to be held on August 27.

Kishore, who was in Group B of Thursday’s qualifiers, was placed fifth with a throw of 80.55 metres. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem topped Group B by sending the spear to a distance of 86.79m.

Neeraj and Manu earlier sailed into the medal round from Group A qualifiers.

Tokyo Olympics champion Neeraj topped Group A with an effort of 88.78, his best in the season, while Manu (81.31m) was third,

The top six from both groups advanced to the final.

This is the first time that all three Indians reached the final of an event in the World Championships.
