Jawad Weakens Into ‘Well-Marked Low Pressure’; No Warning For Odisha In IMD’s Last Special Bulletin; Check Details

Bhubaneswar: After weakening from deep depression to depression, the remnants of Cyclone Jawad further weakened early Monday morning into a well-marked low-pressure area, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest and last special bulletin on the weather system.

The bulletin, issued at 8.30 am, did not contain any warning for Odisha.

“The depression over northwest Bay of Bengal near north Odisha coast moved northeastwards and weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal, adjoining West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts at 5:30 am today. It’s likely to move northeastwards and weaken further into a low-pressure area during the next six hours,” the IMD said.

Under its influence, the Met office forecast light to moderate rainfall at many places and heavy rainfall at isolated places over south Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.

The IMD said this was the last special bulletin on the low-pressure system. However, regular weather bulletins will continue to be issued by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, it said.
