Speaking to media persons after the incident, Basant Senapati, owner of the house at Unit VIII in Bhubaneswar, said it was a pre-planned loot by the miscreants. “They forced open the back door of my house and took away the valuables within an hour when there was nobody in the house,” he said.

“As per our daily routine, my wife was first to leave the house at 7.30 to go to work. Then I took my daughter to drop her at the school around 8 am and returned home at 9 am. I found the front door of the house locked from inside. Then I checked the back door and found it opened forcibly,” he added.

On searching the house, Basant found that the locker of the steel almirah has been opened and gold jewellery worth more than Rs 6 lakh taken away from inside it.

He alleged that this is the second time that his house was looted in the last 6 months. Lat time, the miscreants had taken around Rs 15,000. Though he had filed a police complaint, nobody has been arrested in this connection so far, he added.

This time also, Basant has filed a complaint at local police station.
