Jharsuguda Sizzles At 40.4°C Before Noon; Check Temp In Bhubaneswar & Other Places In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda continued to boil with the mercury soaring to 40.4 degree Celsius before noon on Monday, the regional meteorological centre tweeted.

Six more places recorded temperatures above 37 degree Celsius – Sambalpur (39.8°C) ,Keonjhar (39.4°C), Bhubaneswar (38.6°C), Balasore (38.4°C), Hirakud  (38.4°C) and Chandbali (37.6°C) by 11.30 am. 

Similarly, Gopalpur recorded 36°C, Puri 34°C  and Paradip 32.2°C. 

On Sunday, Jharsuguda recorded the day’s highest of 43 degree Celsius followed by Boudh and Sambalpur at 42.5 degree Celsius and 42.4 degree Celsius respectively. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack  recorded 40 degree Celsius each, three degrees above the normal.

Meanwhile, the MeT office has issued yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri during the next 24 hours.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is also likely in Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapara during this period.

There will be an increase in such activities from Tuesday, which will support the slight dip in mercury level at some places during the next three-four days, it added.
