New Delhi: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” is an old adage and if Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah is to be believed, it was a young woman’s complaint against her former boyfriend that helped the police crack the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)-linked “white-collar” terror module, involving several doctors from across the country.

Abdullah was speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, where he expressed his displeasure at not being kept in the loop about the investigation into the terror module and the November 10 Delhi car blast that killed at least 15 people and injured several others.

It was from “chatter on the streets” that he came to know of how the investigation was progressing, the J&K CM said. A government “can’t operate in silos”, he said, claiming that he only came to know about the raids and the investigation from newspapers, as reported by Deccan Herald.
“I read about the Delhi blast in newspaper. I did not know who carried out the attack… (or) how the investigation is proceeding,” Abdullah said.

He then came to the most interesting part, speaking about an unofficial anecdote that he only came to know about from “chatter on the streets”.

According to him, the Delhi plot was uncovered because a jilted young girl complained to the police about her former boyfriend, leading them to a network that culminated in tracking a doctor involved in the conspiracy.

“This is the sort of thing that any other chief minister would hear officially. I hear it because there are sort of chatters on the streets. The Union Territory model does not work,” he said.
