Joint Security Exercise ‘Sagar Kavach-1’ Launched Off Paradip Coast In Odisha

Paradip: Different departments of Central and state governments along with Indian Navy carried out a joint security exercise off Paradip coast in Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday.

As many as 13 departments participated in the tw0-day exercise ‘Sagar Kavach-1’ which is conducted every year to protect 480-km cost of Odisha from any kind of threat from external forces. The exercise has been carried out since the attack on Mumbai in 2008 when the Pakistan terrorists came through sea route.

As part of the exercise, two teams – red and blue – have been formed with personnel from the departments. While the red team will come on sea route and attempt to enter through weak security points on land, the blue team would try to detect their movement and foil the entry.

The personnel of Odisha Police, Marine Police, Coast Guard, Indian Navy, CISF, Customs, Fisheries department, Paradip Port, Immigration department, Intelligence and Forest department are participating in the exercise which will be conducted at Paradip Port and other strategic locations along eastern coast.
