Journalist Chained in Odisha: Protestors Demand Action Against IIC; Call Nilagiri Bandh On Wednesday

Balasore: The demand for arrest of Nilagiri IIC Draupadi Das in connection with the leg-cuffing of journalist Lokanath Dalei to hospital bed is gathering steam with leaders cutting across party-lines calling for Nilagiri bandh on Wednesday.

At a meeting on Sunday which was attended by local MLA Sukant Nayak, Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi and journalists, they have demanded strict action against IIC Das at the earliest failing which they have threatened Nilagiri shut down on Wednesday.

Draupadi has now been transferred to the police headquarters in connection with the legcuffing of a journalist. Das and Investigating Officer Subarna Behera have been transferred to Police District Headquarters till completion of the probe into the incident.

Terming this as inhuman treatment to a journalist, they have demanded action against her.
