Cuttack: A junior engineer was found dead in his official residence under mysterious circumstances in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Saturday.
According to sources, the junior engineer, identified as Ajay Samal of Sanabarasingha village under Baramba block in the district, was working in Narsinghpur block for the last three years.
Samal was looking after execution of MGNREGA works in Sagar, Alara and Kanjipada panchayats under Narsinghpur block. While he was staying in the government quarters allotted to him in Narsinghpur, he was making field trips to different places regularly.
Am amiable person, Samal was well known in the locality where he was staying. Some locals informed the police after he did not open the door of his house after they knocked for a long time.
A team from Narsinghpur police station went to the spot and broke open the door. They found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room of his quarters.
The police have registered a case and started investigation. Though the exact cause of Samal’s death has not been ascertained, police suspected to be a case of suicide.
