Jagatsinghpur: In order to put the JSW Integrated Steel Plant at Paradip on fast track, the district administration held a coordination meeting among the stake-holders including the local people on Friday.
The meeting convened by district collector Parul Patawari at the collectorate discussed the issues raised by the people affected by the project, particularly in the wake of COVID pandemic.
The people in the project area raised their issues and were provided information by the authorities concerned. The primary issues that were discussed included revised compensation rates for betel vine owners, fishermen and labour, skilling and employment opportunities for youth in the region.
The forum acted as a trust building platform to pave the way for project grounding in the coming month. “We are thankful to government and the district administration for making this possible and our objective is to ground the project within the stipulated time frame for maximum benefit of the people in the region,” said Ranjan Nayak, COO, JSW.
The JSW officials outlined operations in Odisha and the CSR proposal for the project. It was agreed at the meeting that the discussions would be held at village level for a broader acceptance.
Local MLA Raghunandan Dash, MP Dr Rajashri Mallick and Akhilesvar Singh, Jagatsignhpur SP and senior officials of the company attended the meeting. More than 60 panchayat representatives from the project areas like Dhinkia, Gadakujang, Nuagaon, Govindpur and Mahalo attended the meeting.
