New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed his condolences over the loss of lives in a road accident in Odisha’s Jharsuguda.

“The accident in Odisha’s Jharsuguda is saddening. My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives in the accident. I pray that those injured recover at the earliest,” Modi tweeted.

Seven workers of JSW Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd were killed and more than 20 workers were injured after a Hyva truck rammed their bus on the Sambalpur-Jharsuguda Biju Expressway on Friday night.

Nearly 60 workers were returning in the bus from JSW’s plant in Thelkuli to Jharsuguda when the accident occurred around 7 pm on Friday.

The coal-laden truck first hit two cows near Sarbahal, then jumped the road divider and hit the bus.

The accident in Odisha’s Jharsuguda is saddening. My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives in the accident. I pray that those injured recover at the earliest: PM @narendramodi
