Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths apprehended a Junior Revenue Assistant (JRA) while allegedly taking Rs 30,000 bribe to process a file for issue of a certificate in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The accused was identified as Sourav Tripathy, JRA in the Special Certificate Section in the office of the Sub-Collector, Bhubaneswar.
He was apprehended while allegedly demanding and taking bribe of Rs 30,000/- from a complainant for processing the file in a certificate case pending since long.
Despite several requests, Tripathy was demanding Rs 30,000/- to initiate the file. Finding no other way, the complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities. Following this, a Vigilance team nabbed Tripathy while taking bribe from the complainant.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Tripathy and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Tripathy from DA angle. A case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
