Konark: The headmaster of Sunaribasta Project Upper Primary School in Kakatpur of Puri district was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly molestating three minor girl students of the school.
The accused has been identified as Manas Kumar Mishra.
Earlier this morning, a group of students companied by their guardians locked up the school in protest against the alleged molestation of minor students by the concerned headmaster.
According to sources, the minor girls (two Class V students and one Class IV student of the school) informed their parents that the headmaster called them to his room on Monday and indulged in objectionable activities and talks with them.
As soon as the news spread, a group of locals, including the guardians of the students, barged into the school, locked up the rooms and detained the headmaster.
However, the headmaster has refuted the allegations levelled against him.
“An inquiry report will be submitted to the block education officer to initiate further action as the guardians of the students are demanding immediate suspension of the headmaster”, Kakatpur Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) Alok Parida informed.
