Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity is likely to resume in Odisha again after three days of searing heatwave and hot and humid conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
Orange warning of heatwave has been sounded for Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Boudh, Balangir, Sonepur and Sundargarh on April 24 and Balangir and Sambalpur on April 25. Warm night conditions may prevail at one or two places in Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Balangir during these two days.

April 24: Heatwave may prevail at one or two places in Nuapada, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Deogarh, and Angul. Hot and humid conditions are likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal.
April 25: Heatwave conditions are likely at one or two places in Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Boudh, Nuapada and Bargarh. Hot and humid conditions may also prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
April 26: Heatwave conditions may prevail at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Boudh districts.
During this period, the mercury is likely to soar past 42°C in Jharsuguda, Angul, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh and Nuapada districts.
Thunderstorm activity may resume in the state from April 27.
April 27: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur and Rayagada.
April 28: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and hailstorm with heavy rain may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak and Ganjam.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and hailstorm is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Koraput.
While there is no further warning thereafter, light to moderate rain may continue in the afternoon/evening hours at many places across the state on April 29-30 with little change in the weather conditions during the subsequent 3 days.
The weather agency has also forecast 2-4°C fall in day temperature during this period.
