Kamal Nath’s ‘Aag Laga Do’ Video, COVID Comment Spark Controversy
Bhopal: A huge controversy erupted in Madhya Pradesh after a video of former chief minister Kamal Nath was shared by BJP showing him inciting Congress workers to arson and ensure farmers “get justice”.
The saffron party has also attacked Nath for criticising the government’s failure in handling the coronavirus crisis in a way that it says shows the country in poor light.
The state BJP unit released a a 20-second video in which Nath can be seen addressing a virtual meeting. The former CM is heard telling the Congress workers that it was the right opportunity to “set fire” (aag laga do) so that the farmers would get justice.
The comment was condemned by Home Minister Narottam Mishra. “I demand from the MP Governor to allow lodging of a case against Nath under Section 188 of IPC for spreading fear in the society through such statements. He should also be booked for sedition for maligning India’s image through the Indian Corona remarks,” Mishra was quoted as saying by NDTV.
