New Delhi: Actor Kangana Ranaut has joined the hordes of social media users who are up in arms against Aamir Khan’s upcoming ‘Laal Singh Chaddha.’
The film, an adaptation of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump, directed by Advait Chandan, will release on August 11. As the release date nears, the negative buzz around the film rises on Twitter.
Kangana Ranaut has taken to Instagram to react to the negativity and trolling Laal Singh Chaddha is receiving. She believes that the negativity around Laal Singh Chaddha is ‘skillfully curated’ by Aamir Khan himself, but ‘intolerant India’ will be blamed for it.
Kangana took to Insta stories to share her opinion on the matter. “I think all the negativity around upcoming relase Laal Singh Chadda is skillfully curated by mastermind Aamir Khan Ji himself, this year no Hindi films have worked ( barring one exception of a comedy sequel) only south films deeply rooted in Indian culture or with local flavour have worked, a Hollywood remake would have not worked anyway…. But now they will call India intolerant, Hindi films need to understand the pulse of audiences it’s not about being a Hindu or Muslim… even after Aamir Khan ji made Hinduphobic PK or called india intolerant he gave biggest hits of his life… please stop making it about religion or ideology, it’s takes away from their bad acting and bad films (sic),” her post reads.
Kangana is referring to Aamir Khan’s ‘intolerant India’ comment from back in 2015 which blew out of proportion. “As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents,” he had said at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards. “When I chat with Kiran at home, she says ‘Should we move out of India?’ That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day,” he had added. According to Kangana, Aamir has created this negativity around LSC so that if the film fails to make a mark at the box office, the trolling and the Twitter trends would be blamed, once again projecting India as ‘intolerant’, rather than the content of the film.
