Bhubaneswar: Some changes have been made in the itinerary of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s upcoming visit to Odisha with the BJP planning to unleash another round of poll blitzkrieg ahead of the second-round elections in the state on May 20.
While he will be arriving in Odisha on May 15, Rourkela and Kantabanji, the second seat from where BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is contesting the upcoming polls, have reportedly been omitted from his itinerary, according BJP sources.
The BJP stalwart will instead campaign in Soroda and Boudh and hold a massive roadshow in Cuttack. “The roadshow will commence at around 4 pm from Gopabandhu Park after he lands at the Barabati Stadium and culminate at Chandi Mandir Square,” BJP’s Cuttack Nagar president Lalatendu Badu informed on Tuesday.
It will cover several important junctions in Cuttack including Buxi Bazaar, Tinikonia Bagicha, Dargha Bazaar, Choudhry Bazaar, Naya Sarak, Balu Bazaar, Chandni Chowk and Mohammadia Bazaar and culminate at Chandi Mandir Chhak, he added.
Shah had earlier kick-started the poll campaign for BJP in Odisha from Sonepur on April 26.
Besides Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda will campaign in CM’s home turf Hinjili in Ganjam district from where the latter is seeking re-elections for the sixth term, and also address rallies in Sundargarh and Padampur on May 17.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to visit Odisha again on May 20. He will hold a roadshow in Puri in the morning and later address two rallies in Cuttack and Angul. This will be PM Modi’s third visit to the state within a span of two weeks.
Modi had earlier held a roadshow in Bhubaneswar.
