Bhubaneswar: A day after the Central confirmed the death of 7 elephants in the Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary in Kalahandi district due to bacterial infection, the state government on Thursday launched vaccination of elephants in different forest areas of the state.
In Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary on the outskirts of the city, a team of veterinarians and Wildlife officials led by Indramani Nath of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar vaccinated three trained elephants.
Another team carried out the vaccination of four elephants inside Nandankan Zoological Park.
It may be noted that the Central team, which visited the Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary, on Wednesday confirmed the deaths due to hemorrhagic septicemia.
