Kejriwal Govt Requests Centre To Allow Everyone Above 18 To Take Vaccine

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Tuesday requested the Centre to allow everyone above 18 years to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Hours earlier, the Centre announced that everyone over 45 years of age will be allowed to take vaccines from April 1.

Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain said reducing the age to 18 would set an example for the entire world in the fight against COVID-19.

“The Cabinet discussed the issue and the government decided that everyone over the age of 45 including those who don’t have co-morbidity will be eligible for vaccine. We have plenty of medicines and there is no worry about it,” Union Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters.

The pandemic is seeing a strong second wave surging in India with over 46,000 cases recorded on Monday. Nearly 85 per cent of these cases have been reported from Maharashtra, Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
