Bargarh: After firing salvoes at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Kandhamal and Balangir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made a veiled attack on the former’s close aide and 5T chairman V K Pandian in Bargarh by alleging that the incumbent government in Odisha is being run by a ‘Super CM’.
“In 25 years, one entire generation grows up and starts off their new lives. But, BJD has failed to lift Odisha from poverty despite being in power for 25 years. You all know how the BJD government has failed to take up developmental works in Odisha. Who is running the BJD government? There is a ‘Super CM’ in BJD who is not elected by the people. The BJD has outsourced the CM position to someone who is not even aware of the cultural values of Odisha,” he said while addressing the Vijay Sankalp Samavesh here.
Modi further said that Rs 400 crore under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi has been sent to the accounts of farmers here. “Unfortunately, the BJD government is not leaving any opportunity to deceive you. Here, the MSP of paddy is around Rs 2,200, but a farmer gets only around Rs 1,600. The remaining money goes into the pockets of BJD middlemen,” he alleged.
Odisha BJP has pledged to ensure that paddy farmers receive a MSP of Rs 3,100, he added.
“Modi is tirelessly working to improve the lives of villagers and farmers. Remember the struggles farmers faced for urea ten years ago? Today, there are no such issues. Thanks to the BJP government, many fertiliser factories, including Talcher, have been reopened. Work is progressing rapidly in Talcher. The same urea bag that costs Rs 3,000 worldwide is now available to you for less than Rs 300.”
He also emphasised that weaver brothers and sisters are the backbone of the ‘Made in India’ movement while mentioning that Sambalpuri sarees have gained global fame. “With a special focus on handloom and the textile sector, the BJP government is providing scholarships of up to Rs 2 lakh for the children of weavers to study in textile institutes. Over the last decade, we have established more than 600 handloom clusters, empowering our artisans and promoting traditional Indian textiles.”
Stating that the Naveen-led government doesn’t deserve to remain in power in Odisha, he added: “I have already declared, June 4 is the expiry date of the BJD government. Today, there’s anger among people against the BJD leaders and they are saying only one thing, ‘Kete Din Sahiba Odisha’ (for how long will Odisha tolerate)? I have come to seek double blessings for the BJP MLA and MP candidates contesting in Odisha so that the BJP can form a double-engine in the state and also achieve its 400-plus mission at the Centre.”

Modi further said that the BJP government has been working tirelessly for the last 10 years to bring a massive transformation in the lives of poor and tribals. “A daughter from Odisha has become the President of India and it could happen through your vote which allowed Modi to serve you. But Congress and its allies till are not able to accept this and are insulting our tribal daughter.
“Our President, Droupadi Murmu, visited Ram Temple in Ayodhya a few days back, offered prayers and sought blessings from Ramlalla for the welfare of the country… One day after her visit, one of the biggest leaders of the Congress party said we would do the purification of the Ram Temple with Gangajal. Do such people have the right to be in Indian politics? I want that the Congress party which insulted President Droupadi Murmu ji should have its deposits forfeited on all the seats. This is an insult to the country, tribal society and mothers and sisters,” he said, referring to recent remarks of Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole.
The Prime Minister further claimed that Congress wants to amend the Constitution. “They want to take the reservation rights of SCs, STs and OBCs and give them to their vote bank. Today, the guardian of the Indian Constitution is an Adivasi woman… and with your Pradhansevak being a son of the soil, every attempt by Congress to alter the Constitution will be thwarted. Modi will ensure that the rights of SC/ST/OBC communities are protected at all costs,” he added.
“‘Shehzada’ who is dancing nowadays keeping the Constitution on his forehead… When the Manmohan Singh’s cabinet took a decision, the ‘Shehzada’ called a press conference and tore apart that decision into pieces. Those pieces were not of paper but of the Constitution,” he added.
Kandhamal, Balangir and Bargarh along with Sundargarh and Aska are going to polls on May 20.
