Bhubaneswar: The Odisha hockey teams etched their name in history books by lifting both the men’s and women’s titles at the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games in Chhattisgarh.
Odisha outplayed Jharkhand 4-1 in the men’s final at Raipur’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Hockey Stadium. The women’s final saw a close fight, with Odisha prevailing 1-0 over Mizoram.


Odisha’s tally swelled further with archers fetching them four medals, and athletes bagging two more on Thursday.
Arjun Khara and Mamita Oram claimed silver in Recurve mixed event. Another silver came through the efforts of Keshaba Banara in Men’s Compound competition, while Sagar Raita managed bronze in the same event.
The Men’s Compund team of Sagar, Keshaba and Dibyaranjan Munda bagged bronze.
In track and field, Odisha’s Sandhya Murmu secured silver in Women’s 10,000m run and Sunita Santa won bronze in Women’s 1,500m event.
Odisha consolidated their position in second place on the overall medal standings, with a haul of 17 gold, 10 silver and 16 bronze medals.
With two days remaining, Karnataka continue to lead the standings with 21 gold medals.
