Bhubaneswar: Kia Motors has become the fastest carmaker to reach 2 lakh sales in India. The Korean company achieved the feat in just 17 months.
Kia’s products such as the Seltos and Sonet have been blockbuster sellers since their launches. The company crossed 1 lakh sales in July 2020, and it took just 6 more months to reach the next 1 lakh.
Around 60% of the total cars by Kia were top models, highlighting the demand for high-end features such as connected tech, sunroof, larger touchscreen, ventilated seats, etc.
Kia has sold 1,49,428 units of the Seltos, its first car in India. It has sold 45,195 units of compact SUV Sonet and 5,409 units of the big luxury MPV Carnival.
Currently, Kia’s factory in Andhra Pradesh is running two shifts and will have a capacity of 3 lakh units per year by 2022.
