New Delhi: Beating the slump in the market, South Korean carmaker Kia Motors has garnered 6,523 bookings for its upcoming sub-4 metre crossover Sonet on the very first day. In comparison, the successful Hyundai Creta received 10,000 bookings in 7 days while Kia’s own Seltos had received 6,046 bookings on day one.
The Sonet will be made at Kia’s plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
The Sonet will rival Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Breeza.
Like its cousin Venue, the Sonet’s engine options are:
- 1.2-litre 83hp four-cylinder petrol engine
- 1.0 T-GDi 120hp turbocharged petrol
- 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine 100hp (manual) & 115hp (automatic)
Transmission-wise, there are 5-speed and 6-speed manuals, a seven-speed DCT, a 6-speed automatic, and a 6-speed clutchless intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) as options.
Continuing with the success formula of the Seltos and Carnival, Kia has loaded the Sonet with features such as a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen head-unit with live-traffic navigation, air purifier with virus protection, Bose seven-speaker sound system with sub-woofer, sunroof, ventilated front seats, LED sound mood lights, remote engine start for automatic and manual transmission via UVO Connect and smart key, smart voice assist, wireless smartphone charger with cooling function.
Like other Hyundais and Kias, the Sonet too is loaded with safety features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, vehicle stability management, brake assist and more.
The Kia Sonet can be booked for a deposit of Rs 25,000 at Kia dealerships or online. The price of the vehicle is expected to around Rs 9-13 lakh.
