Puri: What is the Srimandir Heritage Corridor’s Parikrama Marg, preparations for whose foundation stone-laying ceremony has gathered pace?
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay the foundation stone on November 24. Ahead of the event, there will be a three-day ‘maha yagna’ beginning tomorrow. The CM will take part in the ‘yagna’ on November 24.
The Heritage Corridor
Conceived in 2016, the first phase of the project will cost Rs 800 crore, provided from the state government’s Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) scheme.
Overall, the redevelopment will cost Rs 3,200 crore. Major areas of the pilgrimage centre and the temple’s vicinity will be redeveloped under 22 plans to be carried out in a phased manner.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) building redevelopment, 600-capacity Srimandir reception centre, Jagannath cultural centre including Raghunandan library, integrated command and control centre, Badadanda heritage streetscape, Srimandir amenities improvement, Sri Setu, Jagannath Ballav pilgrim centre, multilevel car parking, municipal market development, Swargadwar development, Pramod Udyan, Gurukulam, Mahodadhi market, beachfront development, Puri lake, Musa river revival plan, Atharnala and housing for sevayats.
Similar projects
The CM had announced a ₹200-crore package for the development of Sambalpur’s Maa Samaleswari Temple in February. In the 2021-22 Budget, he allocated ₹742 crore for the development of Jagannath and Lingaraj Temple.
