Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a day trip to Odisha on September 17, sources said on Wednesday.
He will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 11.35 am by an IAF aircraft from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The PM will then proceed straight to Janata Maidan, where he will grace the launch event of Subhadra Yojana and other development projects between noon and 1 pm. He is scheduled to leave for Delhi again at 1.25 pm.
This will be the PM first visit to the state after he and other senior BJP members attended the swearing-in ceremony of the council of ministers of the maiden BJP government led by Mohan Majhi in Bhubaneswar on June 12.
The Odisha government had decided to launch Subhadra Yojana, which entails a massive budgetary support of over Rs 55,000 crore, on the birthday of Modi. The core committee of the BJP also met last month to discuss and plan how to make the event a grand affair, grabbing national and international attention.
Over 1 crore women of Odisha between 21 and 60 years of age are expected get annual assistance of Rs 10,000 over the next five years under this flagship scheme of the Mohan Majhi government with the payment of the first tranche on September 17.
The beneficiaries will get Rs 5,000 each – on Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day – in a year over next five years in their accounts through direct benefit transfer. The scheme will be implemented within 2024-25 and 2028-29 financial years and each beneficiary will get a Subhadra debit Card issued by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
