Know What Rail Heritage Museum In Bhubaneswar Will Showcase

Bhubaneswar: The Rail Heritage Museum coming up at Chandrasekharpur in the city will offer a glimpse into the rich and vibrant history of the Indian Railways since its inception during the British rule to the visitors.

East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Vidya Bhushan said this while laying the foundation stone for construction of the Rail Heritage Museum in presence of Sudhir Kumar and other principal heads of departments of ECoR.

He further said the purpose of establishing a Rail Museum at Bhubaneswar is to preserve the old railway equipment, showcase the rich history of the Railways in this region, enlighten the public about the Railways and its achievements and boost tourism. Efforts will be taken to preserve the long and vibrant history of Indian Railways as a whole and East Coast Railway in particular.

Besides old equipment and instruments, technology devices and models will also be preserved in the museum through an impressive display of artefacts, models and photographs.

In the indoor section, document, old manuals, railway maps, equipment, and photographs from early days of the Railways in India will be on display that altogether helps visitors capture the spectacular history and rich heritage.

The outdoor section of the museum will provide old steam locomotives, coaches, wagons, signal systems and many more.
