Chennai: Acting upon a petition filed by Tamil Nadu PWD Minister Aadhav Arjuna, the Madras High Court on Friday ordered notice to former DMK president M K Stalin. The petitioner has sought Rs 1 crore as damages for making defamatory statements against him.
Justice K Govindarajan Thilakavadi also ordered notice to DMK Information Technology wing, reported HT. The case would be heard on September 15 next. Arjuna has also sought to restrain Stalin and DMK IT wing from publishing any similar false and defamatory statements concerning him.
The TVK leader submitted that the present suit was filed against Stalin and the DMK IT wing for publishing a false, malicious and defamatory imputation against him. He alleged such statements were published through the official social media account of the DMK Information Technology Wing on the social media platform ‘X’.
Arjuna claimed that such unauthorised act was published pursuant to the plan, directions, instructions and approval of Stalin.
He alleged an individual, who was referred to in the Enforcement Directorate proceedings as per the statement, was not a relative.
