Bhubaneswar: A 23-year-old biker from Kolkata died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while recently returning from Odisha’s Puri.
The deceased has been identified as Sayan Das, an MBA student and resident of Parnasree in Behala.
According to police sources, Das along with a fellow biker arrived in Puri on Saturday morning. After spending two days in the pilgrim town, they headed back to Kolkata on Sunday night. “After reaching Balasore, his friend realised that Das was not riding behind him. He immediately turned back and began to look for him. He later contacted local police after failing to locate him. Das was found lying beside the highway, several metres from the road, suggesting he was hit from behind,” the TOI reported, quoting a police officer from Behala police division.
Das’s body reached his Behala residence on Monday.
Local police are examining CCTV footage from nearby establishments to ascertain the sequence of events and have urged any witnesses to come forward with information, the report added.
