Puri: Sun Temple in Konark, which was closed for almost three-and-a-half months amid the second wave of COVID pandemic, reopened for tourists with safety protocol on Monday.
After thermal scanning and sanitising, the tourists began entering the temple premises from 6 am. Wearing masks and marinating social distancing are made mandatory for visitors.
According to the guidelines, 2,000 tourists will be allowed to visit the 13th-century shrine in a day.
The tourists are required to book the ticket online. At the main gate, they have to scan the ticket on mobile with the barcode.
The guides, locals photographers and handicraft businessmen have, however, expressed displeasure over not being allowed into the temple premises.
Notably, the government has also allowed people to the sea beaches in Odisha from August.
