Koraput: A day after the suicide of the rape victim, tension ran high in Kunduli in Odisha’s Koraput district in the morning on Tuesday after irate locals forcibly took away the body from the family members from Community Health Centre (CHC) and blocked National Highway-26 by burning tyres on the road.
“We will not allow post-mortem of the victim unless and until justice is meted out to her family. We will continue the agitation until action is taken against the officials responsible for the death of the minor girl,” the locals maintained.
Apprehending trouble, police force has been deployed in the NH area.
On Monday, the CHC doctors discharged the body of the victim after declaring her as received dead. However, police could not conduct the post mortem as the family members said they will not hand over the body untill stern action is taken against the police and officials responsible for the death of the minor girl.
Till reports last came in, no officials have met the family members of the deceased.
Meanwhile, in a sensational disclosure to the media for the first time, the mother of the victim on Tuesday said the officials of Koraput Sishu Mangala Committee had taken her fingerprint on a paper after her daughter was discharged from the district headquarters hospital. In the paper it was stated that if any untoward incident takes place and if her daughter commits suicide, she would be held responsible.
When asked whether anything was written on the paper on which she gave her fingerprint, the hapless mother said it was a blank paper. “Neither I had told anything and nor written anything. The officials forcibly took my fingerprint. After all, I am an illiterate woman and cannot read anything,” she pointed out.
