Kyoto Leg Of Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s Japan Visit Begins Today With Focus On Tourism & Sports
Bhubaneswar: A day after discussing use of green technology in Nippon Steel’s upcoming units in Odisha’s Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik began the Kyoto leg of his weeklong business tour of Japan on Friday.
According to official sources, the CM-led state delegation will hold a roundtable discussion in Kyoto on opportunities for collaboration between Japan and Odisha in the tourism sector, focusing on Buddhist and eco-tourism related sites in the state.
The delegation will also explore possible collaboration in training and development of sports talent in Odisha, the sources added.
After arriving in Tokyo on April 4, the CM had a meeting with Nippon Steel president Eiji Hashimoto, who informed about the company’s plan to build the largest and latest steel plant in Odisha with 30-MTPA production capacity. He conduct one-on-one meetings with potential investors, hosted the Odisha Business Meet 2023 at Tokyo and held an interactive meeting with the Odia diaspora, the following day.
On April 6, Naveen visited Kimitsu Steel Works of Nippon Steel Corporation and expressed his admiration for the state-of-the-art facility and the commitment of Nippon Steel Corporation towards excellence in metal production.

Besides Industries Minister Pratap Keshari Deb, Chief Secretary P K Jena and other senior officers, a business delegation from Odisha, representing steel, aluminium, textiles, food and sea-food processing, green hydrogen and green ammonia sectors, is also accompanying the CM on this trip.
