Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Bar Association has announced its new office-bearers for 2026–27 term, with senior advocate Lalatendu Samantaray winning the post of president, in the keenly-watched election.
Hrudananda Mahapatra was elected as secretary, while Sanjukta Bala Das won the post of treasurer. The results were were declared shortly after polling concluded on Saturday.
Samantaray brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as secretary and vice-president of the association. He is widely respected for his long-standing practice at the highest professional standards, his mentorship of junior advocates, and his consistent support for the broader interests of the bar fraternity.
Elections for 155 of 158 bar associations across Odisha, except Sundargarh, Umerkote and Jatni, were also held the same day.
Ashok Kumar Chhotray elected as president of Bhubaneswar Bar Association with Susanta Dash as vice-president, Suman Rautroy as secretary, Hiten Nayak as treasurer, Sangeeta Pattanaik as joint secretary and Jyotirmayee Panda as assistant secretary, The executive body members are Akshaya Kumar Das, Anup Kumar Ray, Dibya Ranjan Narendra, Pradeepta Kumar Pal, Subrat Senapati, Susanta Kumar Gouda, Pramila Jali and Pushpanjali Pattanaik.
Similarly, Sitanshu Shekhar Panda has been elected president while Jagannath Mishra secretary for Ganjam bar association. Vijay Kumar Ray Jenadeo as president of Jeypore bar association with Sahadev Pattnayak as secretary. In Jaleswar bar association, Kunjabihari Dash has been elected as president and Rajesh Patra as secretary. Ainthu Raut is the new president and Asit Gangadev secretary of Kuchinda bar association. Umesh Mallik has been elected president of Niali bar association and Nrusingh Charan Panda its secretary. While Ranjan Raut has won the post of president and Prashant Pani as secretary of Kamakshyanagar bar association, Jyotiprakash Rath has been elected president and Biplab Barik as secretary of Baripada bar association. For the bar association at Padampur, Anand Kumar Panda is the new president and Harishankar Singh secretary.
