Baripada: A major landslide took place near Mahurabhandar in Similipal Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district following heavy rain, disrupting road connectivity in the area.
As per information, the Jashipur-Gudgudia road has been blocked following the landslide, snapping connectivity with three Gram Panchayats near the sanctuary.
As a result, residents in these areas have been left isolated, with no immediate road communication available.
Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, along with the Deputy Director of North Similipal, visited the site on Monday to assess the situation firsthand.
Authorities are currently evaluating the damage and planning necessary steps for restoration and relief.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that many parts of Odisha, particularly the northern region, are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms in next few days.
