Lawyers body demands judicial probe over CBI’s entry into HC judge’s residence
Cuttack: Members of Orissa High Court Bar Association launched a cease-work stir on Wednesday to protest against CBI sleuths entering the residence of an acting High Court judge C R Dash late on Tuesday.
Condemning the CBI’s action, association vice president Kali Prasad Mishra said, “Besides initiating a high-level judicial inquiry by a High Court or a Supreme Court sitting judge, the association demands stern action against the erring officials. They should be suspended with immediate effect and both departmental and criminal proceedings initiated against them.”
The cease-work strike till continue till 1:30 pm on Thursday, when a meeting will be convened to decide the further course of action, he added.
Meanwhile, the association has met the Chief Justice on this matter.
Some persons claiming to be CBI officials had attempted to forcibly enter into the judge’s residence located at Cantonment Road in Cuttack around 2 am. Their entry, was however, prevented by the security personnel on duty at Dash’s residence, sources said.
