Leopard That Attacked 6 Villagers Captured In Odisha’s Balasore
Panic spread in a village of Odisha’s Balasore district as a leopard went on an attack spree and injured four villagers on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident took place in Gada village under Khaira block of the district in the afternoon. The first victim was Satyabhama Nayak of the village. She along with her husband Gananath Nayak and son was working in a farmland behind their house when the leopard attacked her.
Balasore: The leopard that had gone on an attack spree and injured six persons in a village of Odisha’s Balsore district on Saturday has been captured by the Forest officials.
According to sources, panic had spread in Gada village under Khaira block of the district after the leopard attacked a woman who was working with her husband and son in a farmland. As the family raised a hue and cry, the big cat entered the village and attacked five others.
Following this, the villagers armed with sticks and fire went in search of the leopard but could not trace it. The villagers kept themselves confined inside their houses out of fear and informed the Forest department.
A team of Forest personnel from Kupari arrived at the village and started a search operation for the leopard. As they also failed to trace the big cat, they informed the higher authorities.
A team of Forest officials along with tranqulising gun came to the village at night. They traced the leopard in a villager’s house after 8-hour search operation and transquilised it.
They captured the unconscious leopard in a net and released it in Kuldiha sanctuary, the sources said.
