Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut has began shooting for ‘Queen 2’ in Mumbai, marking her return to one of her most iconic roles.
Even as she returns to film sets, the actor-turned-politician is simultaneously managing her responsibilities in Parliament, balancing a demanding schedule between cinema and public service.
A report in Mid-Day said the actress is working on a tight schedule, flying between Mumbai and Delhi.
After wrapping up ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’ in April, Kangana began gearing up for ‘Queen 2’ as the film’s team reportedly had only about 20 days to prepare before moving into production.
“Now, they are shooting in and around Mumbai. The unit is currently filming in Grant Road, where a set depicting the protagonist’s home has been built,” a source was quoted as saying by the portal.
Vikas Bahl, who is overseeing the writing, direction and co-production of the film, has reportedly mapped out a tight three-month shooting schedule from start to finish.
Kangana is balancing the project with her duties as a Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
“In the last 10 days, Kangana has been flying in and out of the city to attend the Parliament sessions. There have been times when she went to Delhi for the day, came back in the night, and shot till the next morning,” the source added.
The report added that the sequel won’t pick up directly from where the first film ended, but will continue to explore its central themes of self-discovery and independence.
“This time too, Rani is a small-town woman from North India, but her look is entirely different. The story traces how she comes into her own after a situation brings her to Mumbai,” the source revealed.
Meanwhile, a report by Bollywood Hungama suggested that the film may not be titled ‘Queen 2’. Instead, the makers are said to be considering the title ‘Queen Forever’.
Official confirmation is awaited.
