Kolkata: A Thai Lion Air flight on its way back to Bangkok from Kolkata faced a technical snag shortly after pushback early on Saturday, forcing it to return to the parking bay of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI Airport).
The 130 passengers on board have been put up at hotels and asked to remain in touch with the airline for further details.
“The flight, with call sign TLM 242, landed safely at NSCBI Airport at 1.23 am from Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok, with 151 passengers. The same aircraft, bearing registration HS-LGS, was scheduled to depart as TLM 243 after a brief turnaround,” an official said.
“At 02:35 am, the aircraft took pushback from Bay 60R. However, shortly after, the crew reported a technical issue and sought clearance to return to the Bay. The flight was brought back and reparked at stand 34 by 2.43 am,” he added.
The airline has since cancelled the flight while technical inspections and repairs are underway. As of Saturday afternoon, the aircraft remains grounded in Kolkata.
“Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with the airline for updated rescheduling information. All necessary assistance is being extended to all stranded passengers,” the official said.
