Liquor Plant CEO, Incharge Held For Fraud In Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Police on Friday arrested the CEO and company incharge of an Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) bottling unit at Machhia village in Raynrusinghpur panchayat under Tumusingha police limits in Dhenkanal district.

The police action was taken on the basis of a complaint filed by Excise officials that the bottling plant’s CEO Satish Chandra Chowdhury and company incharge Laxmikant Sahu had unauthorisedly disposed of “death stock” worth crores of rupees during Covid-19 restrictions.

During a verification of stocks undertaken by District Excise Officer Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi, it was found that the bottling unit’s top two officials had sold liquor worth Rs 66 lakh fraudulently in association with other accomplices. The associates in the fraud, however, are yet to be identified.

Kamakshyanagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ranjan De and a team of Excise officials launched an investigation into the irregularities before arresting the accused.
