Nuapada: Locals in Sinapali town of Nuapada district have begun an indefinite bandh from Tuesday protesting against unscheduled power cuts in the town.
Almost all commercial establishments, shops and offices downed their shutters to register their resentment against the local electricity distributing office for its alleged failure in supplying uninterrupted power in the area.
Many of the protestors staged demonstrations, picketing and road blockades at different places in the town, affecting vehicular traffic on major roads.
“The residents have been spending sleepless nights owing to extreme heat and irregularity in electricity supply for the past ten days. Appropriate steps should be taken by the authorities concerned to ensure uninterrupted power supply. The agitation will continue till our demand is not met”, an agitator said.
